The two headstones have now been placed in St Mary's churchyard (July 8th)
A commemoration service has been arranged



The CWGC has updated us with news of Samuel Sharp and Robert Yaxley
regarding the placing of headstones for them both

" Just thought I would give you a progress report. I have looked at the cemetery file
and noticed that permission to erect the headstones were given in January 2009,
the headstones were manufactured in France and were shipped on 4 March 2009.
We are still waiting to hear when they will be erected."

Mill - Church Street
Recent research has unearthed evidence of a mill that was situated
next to the bridge over the River Stiffkey in Church Street
Picture (1800's) and information on the mill at water mill

War
Further research is being added to war records Bertie Dewing



St Mary's churchyard
After much research and hard work the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
has agreed to place headstones on the graves of both Samuel Sharp and Robert Yaxley
who both died shortly after WWI due to injuries sustained during that war
and are buried in unmarked graves in St.Mary's churchyard

It is expected that the headstones will be placed by the Commonwealth
War Graves Commission in the churchyard at some point in 2009

A photo of Robert Yaxley has been added to the site courtesy of Keith Tuck (Robert Yaxley's descendant).
Robert was known as Tom by the family

On Tuesday 9th September 2008 Lynn News featured a photo from the walsingham-memories website
asking if anyone recognised any of those on the picture - Walsingham School Area Sports Day
